Punching is a sheet metalworking technique. Using a punch and die, we press various shapes into and out of the metal, to specification. We use punching, for example, to tap threads and create air vents in housings. Our punching machines can also create bends in sheet metal. At VDL Industrial Modules, we specialise in punching stainless steel and aluminium sheet metal up to 5 mm thick. We do this for OEMs in Hightech, Mobility, Energy, Infratech and Foodtech.

Metal punching is particularly suitable for parts with many holes, notches or contours. Punching machines offer high production speeds. This makes them highly suitable for larger production runs. Unlike laser cutting, metal punching does not use heat. This means fewer finishing processes, such as coating or painting, are required. For more complex shapes or small production runs, laser cutting is the better option. Our engineers are happy to advise you!

Metal Punching at VDL Industrial Modules

For punching your metal, we have equipped our fully automated machine park with a high-quality Trumpf punching machine and a laser/punch combination machine.

An automated sheet-metal storage system transports the raw sheet to the die. After punching, it automatically returns the sheet to storage. The machines can operate fully unmanned. This improves your product quality while reducing costs.

By linking the machines to our ERP systems, you can view your product’s status at any time. You can also make adjustments where needed. This gives us maximum control over the supply chain.
